FED:Claim Senate investigation is 'witchhunt' is nonsense:Evans

Labor's Senate leader has described as absurd .. opposition claims that a Senate committee
investigation into the OzCar affair could become a witch hunt.

Senator CHRIS EVANS has told ABC radio it's nonsense .. because the upper house's privileges
committee is chaired by a Liberal .. GEORGE BRANDIS.

The RUDD government's asked the committee to investigate possible contempt for coaching
a witness or rehearsing a script before a Senate inquiry.

It's emerged that Opposition Leader MALCOLM TURNBULL and Liberal Senator ERIC ABETZ
met Treasury official GODWIN GRECH a week before he gave explosive evidence that linked
the prime minister to claims of special treatment for a Queensland car dealer.

The auditor general has cleared KEVIN RUDD and Treasurer WAYNE SWAN of any wrongdoing.
