Qld: Mins should face jail over over child safety cover-up: Libs

Queensland Liberal leader MARK MCARDLE says state government ministers should face
jail .. if claims they directed child safety officers not to report abuse cases to police
are proven.

Mr MCARDLE says the allegations raised in the The Australian newspaper today amount
to a criminal offence.

The paper's reported ministerial interference to stop Department of Child Safety officers
reporting sexual abuse cases to police in Aboriginal communities.

The Liberal leader's echoed calls for an intervention in the Cape York communities
to stop further child abuse.

Mr MCARDLE's also suggested the order not to report cases may have been an attempt
to cover up the extent of abuse in the communities.
