DEAR READERS: With the holidays coming up, here are some hints from the ``elves'' at Heloise Central on one-of-a-kind ways to wrap a gift:

Wrap a present in a map (new or old) for someone who enjoys traveling.

Wrap a gift in white butcher paper and decorate it as you would like. Let the kids join in.

Use sheet music to wrap a small present for a music lover. (Shop flea markets and garage sales.)

A young child would love to receive a gift wrapped in brightly colored comics from the newspaper.

Last year one of my assistants found zipper-top plastic bags that were decorated for the holidays. They were great to put a gift in and just zip shut.
